Speeding Car Rams Divider on Bandra Worli Sea Link, 3 Injured; Driver Booked for Drunk Driving

In a late-night accident on the Bandra Worli Sea Link, a 30-year-old businessman and his two friends sustained injuries after their speeding car rammed into a divider. The mishap occurred around 1:45 AM on Sunday while the group was returning to Ghatkopar from Haji Ali.

According to police officials, the businessman, who was behind the wheel, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. His inability to control the vehicle led to the crash. The two other passengers, aged 32 and 47, were also injured in the incident.

Upon receiving the alert, the Worli police reached the spot promptly and rushed all three individuals to a nearby hospital for treatment. Medical examinations later confirmed that the trio had consumed alcohol.

Following the investigation, the Worli police registered a case against the businessman under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. A detailed probe into the matter is currently underway.

Authorities have once again urged citizens to refrain from driving under the influence, emphasizing that such recklessness not only endangers the driver’s life but also that of others on the road.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenge of ensuring road safety in the city, especially during late hours when visibility and reaction times are often compromised.
