Hyderabad traffic police caught an ambulance transporting a pet dog with its sirens on. The driver, Lakshminarayana, was charged with misusing emergency services.

The incident happened near Panjagutta traffic police station during a routine check. The ambulance, speeding from Himayatnagar to Madinaguda, was stopped for inspection, according to News Meter. Officers, expecting a patient, were shocked to find a caged dog instead. When questioned, Lakshminarayana admitted he was taking the dog to Ivy Hospital in Madinaguda for neutering, as reported by The New Indian Express. He also said he used the siren to cut through traffic, treating it as an emergency.

Authorities seized the vehicle and filed a case against the driver for misusing an emergency vehicle. This has sparked talks about misuse of medical transport, with officials calling for tougher rules.

Kerala Doctor Blocks Ambulance
Earlier, a doctor in Kannur district was fined and charged for allegedly blocking an ambulance carrying a critical patient. The incident occurred in Eranholi, Thalassery, and was recorded on video. Police said the ambulance was on Nayanar Road when a car wouldn’t move despite siren warnings. The driver was Rahul Raj, a doctor running a private clinic in nearby Iritty.

The ambulance driver complained that the car delayed the emergency vehicle. Kathirur police then filed a case against the doctor under the Indian Penal Code. The patient, Rukiya, had a worsening heart condition and was being moved to a private hospital in Thalassery from Mattanur Mission Hospital on medical advice.
