Amit Shah to Assess Anti-Naxal Measures in Chhattisgarh Amid Continued Operations

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Chhattisgarh on a two-day tour starting Friday, where he will conduct a detailed review of anti-Naxal operations in key insurgency-affected districts such as Bastar and Gariaband.

This visit comes on the heels of back-to-back successes in security operations against Naxalites across the state. As per recent reports, a total of 130 Naxals have been neutralized in 2025 alone—over 110 of these fatalities have taken place in the Bastar division, especially in conflict-prone areas like Bijapur and Kanker.

During his stay, Shah is scheduled to lead high-level security review meetings with top officials from the Centre and the state. He will be briefed on the current status of operations, strategy effectiveness, and the challenges ahead in tackling Left-Wing Extremism (LWE).

In addition to neutralizations, law enforcement agencies have made significant headway with over 105 Naxalites taken into custody and another 164 surrendering voluntarily, indicating a weakening hold of insurgent groups in the region.

On Saturday, the Home Minister will head to Dantewada—located in the heart of south Bastar—where he will engage directly with personnel on the ground. These interactions aim to boost the morale of forces engaged in high-risk missions and assess the on-ground impact of anti-Naxal strategies.

Shah will also take part in the closing ceremony of the ‘Bastar Pandum’ festival, an event organized to showcase the region’s rich tribal heritage. Celebrating local traditions, arts, and cuisine, the festival serves as a bridge between culture and peace-building in a once-volatile region.

This visit also reflects the Centre’s larger strategy to root out the Naxal threat by March 31, 2026. Shah has continually called upon Maoist insurgents to lay down arms and rejoin mainstream society, assuring that the government will support their rehabilitation and reintegration.

The Home Minister’s visit reaffirms New Delhi’s focus on bringing long-term peace, development, and stability to Naxal-hit areas of the country
